project statement
This portfolio of prints investigates the body’s agency when it is separated from its physical being. For me, these prints were a way to explore the reclamation of my own body. In many ways my body has belonged to others before it belonged to me. Using common wallpaper motifs, the body is multiplied, mutated, flattened and stripped of most identifiers in the same ways that I have felt my body twisting to meet others’ expectations. The final product after a series of tests is a 15 ft monotype of varying bodies hiding in plain sight.
